Wij zorgen ervoor dat uw Persoonsgegevens veilig en rechtmatig worden verwerkt, en altijd in overeenstemming met de toepasselijke wetgeving inzake gegevensbescherming. In deze Privacyverklaring leggen we uit welke Persoonsgegevens wij verwerken voor de werking en activiteiten van Gentrepreneur, met inbegrip van (a) de registratie en het gebruik van het Startium platform (hierna het “Startium Platform”), (b) het gebruik van onze website www.gentrepreneur.be en www.gentrepreneur.gent (hierna de “Website”), (c) de registratie en de aanwezigheid op evenementen van het Gentrepreneur Partnership, (d) de registratie en aanwezigheid bij coaching-sessies, (e) de registratie voor een vacature (als werknemer of freelancer), en (f) onze samenwerking met partners.
Het “Gentrepreneur Partnership” is een samenwerking tussen Arteveldehogeschool, Universiteit Gent, HOGENT, KU Leuven – Gent, Odisee-Hogeschool en Luca School of Arts, met de steun van Stad Gent, Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen en VLAIO. Gentrepreneur Company CV is als coöperatieve vennootschap actief binnen deze samenwerking.
Alle benamingen met hoofdletter die niet gedefinieerd zijn in deze Verklaring, hebben de betekenis zoals gedefinieerd in de Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming.
Lees deze Privacyverklaring aandachtig. Hieronder worden niet enkel uw rechten omschreven, maar ook de manier waarop u deze rechten kan uitoefenen.
Wijzigingen
Deze Privacyverklaring kan in de toekomst worden aangepast en gewijzigd, hetgeen duidelijk zal worden gemaakt via de datum bovenaan deze Privacyverklaring. Het is aan u om met deze privacyverklaring rekening te houden. Elke substantiële wijziging zal altijd worden meegedeeld.
Wie verwerkt uw Persoonsgegevens?
Gentrepreneur is Verwerkingsverantwoordelijke voor de verwerking van uw Persoonsgegevens die we via het Startium Platform, de Website, via contactverzoeken, via partners, van sollicitanten etc. verzamelen.

Welke Persoonsgegevens verwerken wij van wie, en voor welke doeleinden?
Wij verwerken verschillende soorten van Persoonsgegevens. Mogelijk worden (o.a.) onderstaande Persoonsgegevens door ons verwerkt. Verder verwerken we andere Persoonsgegevens die we nodig hebben in het kader van onze activiteiten waaraan je deelneemt en onze werking. We verwerken geen gevoelige persoonsgegevens van de eindgebruiker, zoals informatie over uw ras, politieke opvattingen, gezondheid, religieuze en andere overtuigingen, seksuele geaardheid en dergelijke.
Bezoekers van de Website
- Verzamelde Persoonsgegevens
Persoonsgegevens gerelateerd aan het bezoek op de Website, zoals het IP-adres, browsertype, browserversie, de pagina’s van de Website die u bezoekt, de datum en tijd van uw bezoek, de gespendeerde tijd op de Website, unieke apparaat-id’s en andere gegevens ten behoeve van websitestatistieken.
- Doel
We verwerken Persoonsgegevens voor het technisch en functioneel beheer van onze Website en om de Website gebruiksvriendelijk te maken. Aan de hand van uw Persoonsgegevens kunnen we nagaan hoe onze Website wordt gebruikt en kunnen we de inhoud en lay-out ervan verbeteren. Deze gegevens stellen ons ook in staat om onze Website adequaat te beveiligen.

Gebruikers van het Startium Platform
- Verzamelde Persoonsgegevens
Persoonsgegevens gerelateerd aan je registratie op en je gebruik van het Startium Platform, waaronder je voornaam, achternaam, gender, geboortedatum, telefoonnummer, studentennummer, afstudeerjaar en afstudeerrichting, e-mailadres, adres, andere persoonsgegevens die je toevoegt aan jouw profiel op het Startium Platform, jouw gebruik van het Startium Platform (zoals inboeken van coaching gesprekken).
- Doel
We verwerken Persoonsgegevens om gebruikers van het Startium Platform een gepersonaliseerde en optimale ervaring te bieden. Dit omvat het aanmaken en beheren van gebruikersprofielen, het faciliteren van deelname aan coaching sessies en evenementen, en het verbeteren van de functionaliteit en beveiliging van het platform. Daarnaast worden persoonsgegevens gebruikt om communicatie met gebruikers te onderhouden en hen te informeren over relevante updates en kansen binnen het platform.
Daarnaast worden Persoonsgegevens gedeeld tussen ons en Varsity Ventures Ltd (de beheerder van het Startium Platform), en partners en experts aanwezig op het Startium Platform om de werking van het platform mogelijk te maken en de gebruikersovereenkomst correct uit te voeren.

Ons gerechtvaardigd belang om een goed functionerend platform aan te bieden, de uitvoering van een overeenkomst.
Personen die met ons contact opnemen of zich inschrijven voor Gentrepreneur evenementen of coaching sessies
- Verzamelde Persoonsgegevens
De Persoonsgegevens waarvan u ons verstrekt door en in uw mail, ander contactverzoek of inschrijving, zoals uw naam, e-mailadres, telefoonnummer, leeftijdscategorie, onderwijsinstelling, studierichting, evenals de inhoud van dergelijke mail of contactverzoek.
- Doel
Wij verwerken uw Persoonsgegevens om per e-mail, telefoon, sms of andere gelijkwaardige vormen van elektronische communicatie contact met u op te nemen.
Grondslag
We verwerken deze informatie op basis van onze legitieme belangen. U kunt er vrij voor kiezen om uw Persoonsgegevens aan ons te verstrekken en u kunt steeds bezwaar maken tegen de verwerking.
Sollicitanten
- Verzamelde Persoonsgegevens
Naam, e-mailadres, adres, telefoonnummer, functietitel, huidige werkgever, geslacht, leeftijd, CV.
- Doel
Wij verwerken uw Persoonsgegevens om uw sollicitatie te beoordelen en om contact met u op te nemen over de voortgang van de sollicitatieprocedure. Daarnaast kunnen we uw gegevens gebruiken om toekomstige passende vacatures te identificeren en u hierover te informeren.
- Grondslag
Wij verwerken deze gegevens op basis van uw toestemming en in sommige gevallen op basis van ons gerechtvaardigd belang om een efficiënte en effectieve wervingsprocedure te voeren. U kunt steeds uw toestemming intrekken.
Wie heeft er toegang tot mijn Persoonsgegevens?
Aanbieders van sociale media
Via onze websites kunt u ons volgen op sociale mediakanalen, zoals TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube en LinkedIn, bv. via een 'volg'-knop of via een hyperlink die u naar het betreffende socialemediakanaal leidt. Wanneer u op een volgknop of hyperlink klikt, verzamelt de desbetreffende sociale media-aanbieder uw Persoonsgegevens rechtstreeks van u, zonder dat wij die delen. Wij zijn niet verantwoordelijk voor de manier waarop deze sociale media-aanbieders met uw Persoonsgegevens omgaan. Wij raden u daarom aan om de Privacyverklaringen van deze aanbieders te raadplegen:
Het verzenden van nieuwsbrieven
Via onze websites kunt u zich inschrijven op onze nieuwsbrief. Voor het verzenden van onze nieuwsbrieven maken we gebruik van Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group). Hiervoor wordt onder meer je voornaam, achternaam en emailadres verwerkt. Je vindt meer informatie rond de verwerking van persoonsgegevens en naleving van privacywetgeving door Mailchimp via deze link.
In het kader van het Gentrepreneur Partnership
In het kader van onze samenwerking met het Gentrepreneur Partnership delen wij relevante persoonsgegevens met de leden van deze samenwerking. Dit omvat informatie over deelname aan activiteiten en coaching gesprekken, zoals het aantal en de identiteit van studenten van hogere onderwijsinstellingen die deelnemen. Deze gegevens worden gedeeld om de effectiviteit van onze programma's te evalueren, interne opvolging binnen de hogere onderwijsinstelling mogelijk te maken en te rapporteren in het kader van subsidieprojecten, zoals EU-projecten en projectsubsidies van VLAIO.
Andere partijen
Wij kunnen uw Persoonsgegevens verder ook delen met:
- derde partijen in het kader van de ondersteuning van het beheer en verwerking van de mailboxen van onze medewerkers;
- (onder)aannemers om ons te helpen bij het uitvoeren van de hierboven genoemde doeleinden;
- dienstverleners voor het aanmaken en verdelen van tickets voor evenementen (waaronder Zimma Ltd trading as Ticket Tailor, Eventbrite, etc.).
- dienstverleners voor het monitoren en analyseren van het gebruik van onze Website, voor het verwerken van betalingen of om contact met u op te nemen;
- verbonden bedrijven, joint venture-partners of andere bedrijven waarover wij zeggenschap hebben of waarover wij gezamenlijk zeggenschap hebben. We zullen van deze gelieerde bedrijven eisen dat ze dit Privacybeleid naleven;
- onze accountants, auditors, advocaten of soortgelijke adviseurs wanneer we hen vragen ons professioneel advies te geven;
- de gerechtelijke, politie- of administratieve autoriteiten als we verplicht zijn om uw persoonsgegevens bekend te maken of te delen om te voldoen aan een wettelijke verplichting, een bindende beslissing van een administratieve autoriteit of een gerechtelijk bevel.
Wij delen uw Persoonsgegevens alleen met deze derden op voorwaarde dat zij (a) als Verwerkingsverantwoordelijken voldoen aan de AVG of (b) als Verwerkers een verwerkingsovereenkomst met ons hebben gesloten. Voor een gedetailleerde lijst van deze derden kunt u contact met ons opnemen via de hierboven vermelde contactgegevens.
Verwerking van Persoonsgegevens buiten de EER
Wij zijn een Belgisch bedrijf en streven er in principe naar om uw Persoonsgegevens uitsluitend binnen de Europese Economische Ruimte (EER) te verwerken. Het is echter mogelijk dat uw Persoonsgegevens – via onze (sub)verwerkers – worden doorgegeven naar landen buiten de EER. De aanbieder van het Startium Platform (Varsity Ventures Ltd) is gevestigd in Noord-Ierland en Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group) is gevestigd in de VSA.
Indien uw Persoonsgegevens worden doorgegeven naar een land waar geen passend beschermingsniveau geldt volgens de geldende wetgeving, nemen wij de nodige maatregelen om een gelijkwaardig beschermingsniveau te waarborgen. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld door gebruik te maken van modelcontractbepalingen goedgekeurd door de Europese Commissie of door andere passende waarborgen te implementeren.
Hoe beschermen we uw Persoonsgegevens?
Wij hebben passende technische en organisatorische maatregelen, beschermingsmaatregelen en waarborgen uitgewerkt om uw Persoonsgegevens te verwerken overeenkomstig de toepasselijke Belgische en Europese regelgeving, en in het bijzonder om uw Persoonsgegevens te beschermen tegen verlies, fout gebruik of ongeoorloofde wijzigingen.
Bovendien hebben wij met onze (sub)verwerkers een verwerkingsovereenkomst afgesloten om uw Persoonsgegevens te beveiligen en intern verschillende maatregelen genomen op vlak van confidentialiteit. We leveren alle redelijke/noodzakelijke inspanningen om de vertrouwelijkheid van uw Persoonsgegevens te beschermen.
Hoe lang bewaren we uw Persoonsgegevens?
We bewaren uw Persoonsgegevens niet langer dan noodzakelijk voor de doeleinden waarvoor ze zijn opgeslagen. We bewaren en gebruiken uw Persoonsgegevens voor zover dat nodig is om te voldoen aan onze wettelijke verplichtingen (bijvoorbeeld als we ze moeten bewaren om te voldoen aan toepasselijke wetgeving), geschillen op te lossen en onze overeenkomsten af te dwingen.
We bewaren ook gebruiksgegevens (d.w.z. gegevens die automatisch worden verzameld, gegenereerd door het gebruik van de Website of het Startium Platform zelf) voor interne analysedoeleinden. Gebruiksgegevens worden over het algemeen voor een kortere periode bewaard, behalve wanneer deze gegevens worden gebruikt om de beveiliging te versterken of de functionaliteit van onze Website of het Startium Platform te verbeteren, of wanneer we wettelijk verplicht zijn om deze gegevens voor een langere periode te bewaren.
Als u wilt weten hoe lang we uw persoonsgegevens bewaren voor een bepaald doel, kunt u contact met ons opnemen via de hierboven vermelde contactgegevens.
Wat zijn mijn rechten als betrokkene?
Voor zover voorzien in de toepasselijke Belgische en Europese regelgeving, heeft u het recht:
- op een bevestiging of wij uw Persoonsgegevens al dan niet verwerken en, in voorkomend geval, op toegang tot de Persoonsgegevens die we verwerken;
- op verbetering, zonder onnodige vertraging, van onnauwkeurige of onvolledige Persoonsgegevens;
- om uw Persoonsgegevens te laten wissen;
- om uw Persoonsgegevens te verkrijgen en ze aan een andere Verantwoordelijke of Verwerker over te dragen;
- om van ons de beperking van de verwerking van uw Persoonsgegevens te verkrijgen, voor zover dit mogelijk is;
- om uw Persoonsgegevens toegestuurd te krijgen in een gestructureerd, algemeen gebruikt en machine-leesbaar formaat;
- om in te gaan tegen de Verwerking van uw Persoonsgegevens en tegen het gebruik van uw Persoonsgegevens voor directe marketingdoeleinden.
Deze rechten kan u uitoefenen door contact op te nemen met ons. Indien wij de Verwerkingsverantwoordelijke zijn met betrekking tot de betrokken Persoonsgegevens, zullen wij uw verzoek behandelen indien gepast.
In geval van een datalek zullen betrokkenen onmiddellijk op de hoogte worden gesteld. Wij hebben een procedure opgesteld om ervoor te zorgen dat alle datalekken snel en effectief worden gemeld aan de betrokkenen, in overeenstemming met de toepasselijke wetgeving.
Indien en voor zover voorzien in de toepasselijke Belgische en Europese regelgeving, heeft u het recht een klacht in te dienen bij de bevoegde toezichthoudende autoriteit indien de verwerking van uw Persoonsgegevens de toepasselijke regelgeving schendt. We ensure that your Personal Data is processed securely and lawfully, and always in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation. In this Privacy Statement, we explain which Personal Data we process for the operation and activities of Gentrepreneur, including: (a) the registration and use of the Startium platform (hereinafter the “Startium Platform”), (b) the use of our website www.gentrepreneur.be and www.gentrepreneur.gent (hereinafter the “Website”), (c) the registration for and attendance at events of the Gentrepreneur Partnership, (d) the registration for and attendance at coaching sessions, (e) the registration for a vacancy (as employee or freelancer), and (f) our collaboration with partners.
The “Gentrepreneur Partnership” is a collaboration between Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, Ghent University, HOGENT, KU Leuven – Ghent, Odisee University of Applied Sciences and Luca School of Arts, with the support of the City of Ghent, the Province of East Flanders and VLAIO. Which Personal Data do we process from whom, and for which purposes?
We process different types of Personal Data. The following Personal Data may (among others) be processed by us. In addition, we process other Personal Data that we require in the context of the activities in which you participate and our operations. We do not process sensitive personal data of the end user, such as information about your race, political opinions, health, religious or other beliefs, sexual orientation, and similar data.
Visitors to the Website
- Collected Personal Data
Personal Data related to your visit to the Website, such as IP address, browser type, browser version, the pages of the Website you visit, the date and time of your visit, the time spent on the Website, unique device IDs and other data for the purpose of website statistics.
- Purpose
We process Personal Data for the technical and functional management of our Website and to make the Website user-friendly. On the basis of your Personal Data, we can determine how our Website is used and improve its content and layout. This Personal Data also enables us to adequately secure our Website.

Users of the Startium Platform
- Collected Personal Data
Personal Data related to your registration on and use of the Startium Platform, including your first name, last name, gender, date of birth, telephone number, student number, graduation year and field of study, email address, address, other Personal Data you add to your profile on the Startium Platform, and your use of the Startium Platform (such as booking coaching sessions).
- Purpose
We process Personal Data in order to provide users of the Startium Platform with a personalized and optimal experience. This includes creating and managing user profiles, facilitating participation in coaching sessions and events, and improving the functionality and security of the platform. Personal Data is also used to maintain communication with users and to inform them about relevant updates and opportunities within the platform.
In addition, Personal Data is shared between us and Varsity Ventures Ltd (the administrator of the Startium Platform), as well as partners and experts active on the Startium Platform, in order to make the operation of the platform possible and to properly perform the user agreement.

Our legitimate interest in offering a well-functioning platform, and the performance of a contract.
Persons who contact us or register for Gentrepreneur events or coaching sessions
- Collected Personal Data
The Personal Data that you provide to us through and in your email, other contact request or registration, such as your name, email address, telephone number, age category, educational institution, field of study, as well as the content of such email or contact request.
- Purpose
We process your Personal Data in order to contact you by email, telephone, SMS or other equivalent forms of electronic communication.
- Basis
We process this information on the basis of our legitimate interests. You are free to choose whether to provide your Personal Data to us, and you may at any time object to the processing.
Applicants
- Collected Personal Data
Name, email address, address, telephone number, job title, current employer, gender, age, CV.
- Purpose
We process your Personal Data in order to evaluate your application and to contact you regarding the progress of the application procedure. In addition, we may use your Personal Data to identify future suitable vacancies and to inform you about these.
- Legal basis
We process this Personal Data on the basis of your consent and, in some cases, on the basis of our legitimate interest in conducting an efficient and effective recruitment procedure. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
Who has access to my Personal Data?
Social media providers
Through our Websites you can follow us on social media channels such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn, for example via a “follow” button or through a hyperlink that leads you to the relevant social media channel. When you click on a follow button or hyperlink, the respective social media provider collects your Personal Data directly from you, without us sharing it. We are not responsible for the way in which these social media providers handle your Personal Data. We therefore recommend that you consult the Privacy Statements of these providers:
Sending newsletters
Through our Websites you can subscribe to our newsletter. For sending our newsletters we use Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group). For this purpose, your first name, last name and email address are processed, among other things. In the context of the Gentrepreneur Partnership
In the context of our collaboration with the Gentrepreneur Partnership, we share relevant Personal Data with the members of this partnership. This includes information about participation in activities and coaching sessions, such as the number and identity of students from higher education institutions who participate. These data are shared in order to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs, to enable internal follow-up within the higher education institution, and to report in the context of subsidy projects, such as EU projects and subsidy projects of VLAIO.
Other parties
We may also share your Personal Data with:
- third parties in the context of supporting the management and processing of our staff’s mailboxes;
- (sub)contractors to help us carry out the purposes mentioned above;
- service providers for creating and distributing tickets for events (including Zimma Ltd trading as Ticket Tailor, Eventbrite, etc.);
- service providers for monitoring and analyzing the use of our Website, for processing payments, or to contact you;
- affiliated companies, joint venture partners or other companies over which we exercise control or joint control. We will require such affiliated companies to comply with this Privacy Statement;
- our accountants, auditors, lawyers or similar advisors when we request them to provide us with professional advice;
- judicial, police or administrative authorities if we are required to disclose or share your Personal Data in order to comply with a legal obligation, a binding decision of an administrative authority or a court order.
We share your Personal Data with these third parties only on the condition that they (a) as Controllers comply with the GDPR, or (b) as Processors have entered into a processing agreement with us. Processing of Personal Data outside the EEA
We are a Belgian company and, in principle, aim to process your Personal Data exclusively within the European Economic Area (EEA). However, it is possible that your Personal Data – through our (sub)processors – may be transferred to countries outside the EEA. The provider of the Startium Platform (Varsity Ventures Ltd) is established in Northern Ireland and Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group) is established in the USA.
If your Personal Data is transferred to a country that, under the applicable legislation, does not provide an adequate level of protection, we will take the necessary measures to ensure an equivalent level of protection. This may include, for example, the use of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or the implementation of other appropriate safeguards.
How do we protect your Personal Data?
We have developed appropriate technical and organizational measures, safeguards and protections to process your Personal Data in accordance with the applicable Belgian and European legislation, and in particular to protect your Personal Data against loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration.
In addition, we have concluded a data processing agreement with our (sub)processors to secure your Personal Data and have taken various internal measures regarding confidentiality. We make all reasonable and necessary efforts to protect the confidentiality of your Personal Data.
How long do we retain your Personal Data?
We do not retain your Personal Data longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. We retain and use your Personal Data insofar as necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain it in order to comply with applicable legislation), to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements.
We also retain usage data (i.e. data that is collected automatically, generated by the use of the Website or the Startium Platform itself) for internal analysis purposes. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period, except where such data is used to strengthen security or to improve the functionality of our Website or the Startium Platform, or where we are legally required to retain such data for a longer period.

What are my rights as a data subject?
To the extent provided under the applicable Belgian and European legislation, you have the right:
- to obtain confirmation as to whether or not we process your Personal Data and, where that is the case, to access the Personal Data we process;
- to obtain the rectification, without undue delay, of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data;
- to have your Personal Data erased;
- to obtain your Personal Data and transfer it to another Controller or Processor;
- to obtain from us the restriction of the processing of your Personal Data, to the extent possible;
- to receive your Personal Data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format;
- to object to the processing of your Personal Data and to the use of your Personal Data for direct marketing purposes.
You can exercise these rights by contacting us. If we are the Controller with respect to the Personal Data concerned, we will handle your request where appropriate.
In the event of a data breach, data subjects will be notified immediately. We have established a procedure to ensure that all data breaches are reported quickly and effectively to the data subjects, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
