The Expedition is a track to support and inspire students and researchers to develop crucial entrepreneurial skills with the aim of:  

‍

• Shaping a business idea  
• Transformation of that business idea into a successful start-up  

Thanks to the support from an extensive network of experts, early ideas are transformed into scalable business models. The partners of Gentrepreneur will be part of the expert network, workshops and/or jury team throughout the sessions. The Expedition also prepares participants for acceleration and incubation programmes.

THE PROGRAMME  

The validation of your idea is central.  

We get off to a flying start with an intensive bootcamp weekend to further develop your business idea.  This is followed by regular coaching sessions, workshops and networking opportunities. We focus on the development of your business concept and help prepare your start-up. We end with a pitch moment, where you present your progress. Do you and your team prove your worth here? Then you will receive 250 euros in budget to validate your concept. The jury will award a budget of 500 euros to the most promising teams.

WHO CAN APPLY?  

Any (team of) student(s)/researcher(s) who:  

• wants to validate their innovative idea and find out whether it is or could be market-ready  

• wants to explore the greater potential of an existing business and scale it up  

At least one team member must meet one of these conditions at the time of application:  

• Be a student or researcher at UGent, Arteveldehogeschool or HOGENT  

• Being a student or researcher at a Ghent campus of LUCA, KULeuven or Odisee  

• Be less than 25 years old and domiciled in Ghent (in case you are not a studying)

Teams can register up to 3 active team members for the track.  If selected for The Expedition, we expect all active team members to take part in the complete The Expedition- programme . At least one active team member should be present during each of the sessions of The Expedition.

TIMING  

The timing of the 2025 track is as follows (excluding individual monthly coaching sessions):  

• 30 January: opening of registrations  

• 27 February: deadline to register  

• 5-6 March: selection pitches  

• 21-23 March: Kickoff Bootcamp on location  

• 27 March, 3 April, 24 April, 29 April, 6 May, 15 May and 22 May: Thematic Workshops  

• 26 &30 June: Test pitches  

• 01 July: Summer Pitch  

At least 1 active team member per team should be present during each activity.  

Activities listed are non-limitative and timing can be subject to change.

PRACTICAL DETAILS  

Teams selected for the programme pay a registration fee of €100 per active team member for the full programme. This registration fee includes all activities/ weekend/ expert advice/ mentoring/ coaching/ keynote sessions. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
